The Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BN-20A is the perfect device for starting a homebased business, or as an addition to existing production workflows to expand into print and cut applications. The BN-20A is the most versatile print device in its class, allowing for a wide variety of profitable applications ranging from custom apparel decoration, decals and labels to wall graphics, POP displays, and more. The BN-20A is the most compact and economical print-and-cut device in the Roland DG lineup, yet it delivers quality that rivals the current full production sized units available in today’s market.
Easy to use and affordable to run, the BN-20A delivers amazing print and cut quality, allowing users to stand out from their competition, test new markets and deliver stunning results, without a huge initial financial investment. The evolution of the BN-20 to the BN-20A is another example of Roland DG listening to the voice of our customers and delivering a product that exceeds the expectations of the most demanding users.
The Roland DG BN-20A uses Eco-Sol MAX 2 ink in a standard CMYK configuration. Roland Eco-Sol MAX 2 offers a wide color gamut and fast drying times, with rugged scratch resistance on a wide variety of readily available 20-inch printable media.
The BN-20A is expected to fit into a similar market segment as the BN20. Based on survey data of 500 BN-20 users, businesses identifying as “apparel” or “sign” shops make up the bulk the self-described business types. By removing the recirculating specialty color channel for White and Metallic (which are rarely used in making apparel and decals/labels), Roland DG is able to offer a device that meets or exceeds the needs of the customer at a lower targeted price point.
The BN-20 features a new cutting carriage design that does not bounce against the media if the cutting force is set too high for the substrate. Combined with the largest cutting force of all Roland print/cut devices at 300 grams, precision control of Z movement keeps the cutting consistent and virtually eliminates common problems inherent in drag knife contour cutting technology with simple up/down electronic controls.
The BN-20 is the easiest to use of any device in the Roland printer lineup. All functionality of the device is handled through the VersaStudio utility software. The utility software package is actively open in the Windows® taskbar and controls basic machine functions, status and calibrations. The utility software also monitors replacement of consumable parts like wipers and contour cutting blades.
The VersaStudio comes complete with R-Works, an entry-level design package created by Roland. It allows you to import stock photos or personal photos taken with a digital camera, create original layouts with text, and edit custom print and cut graphics. R-Works also includes a vector art library of stock designs.
Developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters, VersaWorks RIP software ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use. Based on the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine, VersaWorks includes advanced error diffusion, 16-bit rendering, and the Roland Color system, which accurately reproduces more than 1,000 standard colors and 512 metallic colors. With Roland@NET, updates are free and easy, automatically uploaded through your Internet connection. VersaWorks is fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP.
