USCutter Replacement Cutting Strip for SC2 & LP3 Vinyl Cutters

Replace your cutting strip every 6 months to a year depending on your usage. Gouges or adhesive residue on the strip can accumulate over time and usage and cause tracking errors on your cut job.

Available Sizes:

  • 28"
  • 34"
  • 53"

NOTE: This cutting strip does NOT come with an adhesive, however, we offer two adhesive options for you to choose from in the pull-down option menu.

Cutting strips are designed to be non-stick, so special care must be taken to use an appropriate adhesive to keep them in place. Depending on the environmental conditions where you will use your cutter, you may want to use either double-sided tape or adhesive glue.

If your cutter is likely to be used in a temperature controlled environment, double-sided tape should be sufficient.

If your environment has increased heat or cold or humidity, you may want to use E6000 glue, which is not impacted by temperature changes. Note that although E6000 glue remains flexible and generally pulls up in one piece, it may take more effort to remove glue when changing strips the next time.

Whichever technique you choose, the important thing is to make sure that the cutting strip is at the same level all the way across so that blade pressure is constant when cutting.

If using double-sided tape, you may purchase from us or source this common tape yourself.

iCraft SuperTape for Replacement Cutting Strips

iCraft SuperTape is the strongest acid-free clear adhesive available. We here at USCutter recommend using to hold down replacement cutting strips. However the iCraft SuperTape can also adhere metals, paper, rubber charms, ribbon, wood, beads, seed beads, micro beads, glitter, sand, shells, heavy or bulky items. Simply decorate the tape itself to use as a custom embellishment. SuperTape is ultra clear and heat resistant, perfect for heat embossing on cards and as custom accents.

Instructions for double-sided tape:

1) Move the carriage to one side of the cutter

2) With a knife or flathead screwdriver, pry up and remove the old cutting strip

3) Clear old glue/tape from the cutting channel with the flathead screwdriver.

Any excess glue/tape can be cleaned with Alcohol, Acetone, or Toluene.

It is important that the channel be clear so that the new strip will be at the same level across its full length

4) Cut double-sided tape to the required length, peel one of backers and place tape in the cutting channel. Once in place, remove the other backer from the tape.

5) Starting at the carriage side, slide the cutting strip under the carriage and then move the carriage out of the way so you can position the cutting strip correctly.

6) Press down firmly across the entire length of the cutting strip.

(optional - place a piece of regular clear tape on top of the cutting strip to further hold it down)

7) Check to be sure that the cutting strip is at the same level all the way across, otherwise your blade pressure will not be even when cutting

E6000 Glue - Recommended For Use When Replacing Cutting Strips

E6000 is a rubber based adhesive, which remains super flexible and stretchy once it’s cured. The glue will not change shape when exposed to the typical hot or cold temperatures that might be seen when working with a cutter in a garage or basement.

Depending on the length of the cutting strip, each 0.18 ounce tube has enough glue to attach 2 to 3 cutting strips. The tube has a resealable cap so you can store it for the next time you need to replace a cutting strip.

Instructions for E6000 glue technique:

1) Move the carriage to one side of the cutter

2) With a knife or flathead screwdriver, pry up and remove the old cutting strip

3) Clear old glue from the cutting channel with the flathead screwdriver.

Any excess glue can be cleaned with Alcohol, Acetone, or Toluene.

It is important that the channel be clear so that the new strip will be at the same level across its full length

4) Apply a thin line of glue to the bottom of the cutting strip.

5) Starting at the carriage side, slide the cutting strip under the carriage and then move the carriage out of the way so you can position the cutting strip correctly.

6) Using the handle of the flathead screwdriver slide the screwdriver handle across the length of the cutting strip so that the cutting strip is at the same level everywhere. (otherwise, you might not have the same cutting pressure across the length of the cutting strip)
